GRIPP High School Science Project Student Devanshi Shukla Wins Manning Innovation Prize
Centennial Collegiate student Devanshi Shukla is coming home a winner from the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Montreal.
The 18-year-old, who has already impressed at regional science fairs, snagged a gold medal in her division at the national event, held this month at McGill University. She was also recognized as a Manning Young Canadian Innovator in the Ernest C. Manning Awards for Canadian innovation.
Shukla wins $7,500 in cash and a trip to the awards gala in Halifax later this year, where she will be honoured alongside eight other Canadian innovators, a news release said.
For her winning project, Shukla developed a sensor to detect fungal growth in food and the environment before visible signs are present
