High School Science Projects


Devanshi Shukla a high school student from Guelph, Ontario conducted her high school science project at GRIPP in the summer of 2015. Through her time spent at GRIPP she gained first-hand experience in a research environment as well as the publishing process by submitting her findings to regional and national science fair competitions.

Devanshi’s science project “A Biosensor for the Detection of Microbial Contamination” led her to win several prestigious awards and competitions including:
  • The Ernest C. Manning Award for Canadian innovation at the 55th Canada Wide Science Festival held May 2016 in Montreal.
  • The Challenge Award (innovation intermediate), The Excellence Award (Intermediate), and Western University Scholarship Gold Medalist Entrance Scholarship at the Canada Wide Science Fair in Windsor, ON
  • Gold medal gold at the Waterloo-Wellington Science and Engineering Fair held this April 2016 in Kitchener, Ont.
